The unintended expat blogger behind CrispVelvetBay

Hey, I'm Noah
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expatriate based in Toronto, Canada.
A few years back I moved here with my family; what began as a short-term assignment gradually became a whole new chapter of my life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Canada wasn't in the plan for the long run. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were intense — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and higher expectations. Day-to-day tasks seemed more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built CrispVelvetBay
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap—practical advice grounded in real life in Canada.
What This Site Covers (And What It Does Not)
This site stands for:
- Real-world experience from living in Canada
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever there is a meaningful change
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a paid review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Moving Forward
Our stay in Canada goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I will continue recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
Noah
